Reduction Butterflies

I never posted the process for this print, so here it is.

This is a reduction print, which means each color is carved away to KEEP that color. First you carve out all the whites then print the lightest color first. You run your whole edition in that one color before carving out the second color.

Then you carve away everywhere you want to KEEP that first lightest color. Then print your edition, and so on, until your last color. Your block is left with the last color you printed, so you can’t replicate that print anymore, which makes it SPECIAL! That edition of 16 or however many is the only edition in existence!

From the Sea

Here is my second silkscreen project. I am really excited about this one. Everything went so well! I don’t know a title yet though because I am the worst at titling things. Any ideas? Right now it “From the Sea.”

OldMan

This one was a test print for each color, but I ended up really liking it.OldManTestPrint

Back in the printing game.

I participated in a print market this weekend and thought I would make some new prints. I ended up producing a lot of monotypes and made some small linocuts. It was an awesome event and now I am a little high on success.

The Woodblock

For my Printmaking final we carved a woodblock as a group and printed it at Rockin Rollin Prints at Saint Arnold Brewing Co. this past Sunday.

I went with most of my class and my professor and we volunteered all day.  It was really hot and most of us were filling in for all the people who didn’t show up, but it was really fun!  I can’t wait for next year so I can make my own block!
