Last Portrait Ever

I’ve finished my second project in painting class.  For some stupid reason I picked a portrait.  This was the first time I painted a portrait on such a big scale.  I didn’t like it at all.  I liked the drawing a did, but once I started painting it, didn’t look as good as I thought it would.  I’ve decided I can only do portraits at a small scale (here).  I found I can do detail really well when it’s on a smaller canvas.  When it’s blown up, there are few details so it’s kind of boring.  But people seemed to like it…

Here was my process:

I started out with a grid cause I drew it on a tiny piece of paper first.  The grid didn’t really do much, but I’ll probably use it again.DSC06582 DSC06583 DSC06589 DSC06590 DSC06593 DSC06595

At this point I was about to kill myself.

The signature is icky and I’m going to do it again. But I really like the ruffle!!DSC06639Details.
